ViewsGPRS parametersFrom Internet Tablet TalkFor those having problems connecting their Nokia 770 to their operator using GPRS bluetooth mobile phone, here is a list of tips:
First, update your tablet software with the latest release. Then, in the mobile operator wizard, select "France" then "Orange GPRS". If you are still having problems, check the connection parameters in the configuration panel / connectivity / connections. Mine are: APN : orange.fr phone number : *99***4# user : orange password : orange
As of August 2006 T-Mobile now offer an unlimited internet package that includes a 3G UMTS/GPRS Datacard for your laptop for a very low price of £20 per month inclusive. The card only works under windows and OSX and includes free access at all T-Mobile hot spots. You can use the same contract to access the web using the 770 by putting the SIM card into a moby that has bluetooth and GPRS/UMTS support. Use the Operator Wizard set the connection settings. Leave the user and password empty. You can verify the seetings in the connection manager. settings are Connection Name: T-Mobile Internet -Select Packet Data APN :general.t-mobile.uk Dial Number :*99***1# User name :user Password :***
This is the same as the default settings I think - however there is a trick if you have multiple data accounts on your phone. The Dial Number must be '*99***1#' - note that the '1' corresponds to the data account on your phone to use. Make sure it's right by going into (on your phone) menu->settings->Connectivity tab->Data communication->Data accounts, then select the right data account (you may have to contact O2 to set this up), then hit more->account info. On the second line is the 'External ID' parameter - this is the magic number that needs to go into the 770 'Dial Number' string. Note that unless you have a special deal or bolt-on, this data costs £3 a megabyte... settings are Connection Name: O2 Mobile Web APN :mobile.o2.co.uk Dial Number :*99***1# User name :o2web Password :password
