ViewsN810 MicroB to MiniB Plus easy OTG host modeFrom Internet Tablet TalkOne solution to the n810 connector: Motorola micro USB (EMU) to mini USB adapter from AccessoryOne via Amazon.com (If there are other or better sources, please add links) You can also grab it along with the accompanying N800 OTG adapter that together will allow you to have a plug-and-play OTG solution for the N810 here (this means you don't need to do all the modifications and special work described later in this article): Micro USB to Mini USB (EMU) cable at EPO Steps below are only required if you are NOT using an OTG adapter. Inexpensive, and fixes the weird connector problem, but even better it has all 5 pins wired from each end. What this means is if you carefully cut through the plastic sheath, then the shielding, there are 5 wires. The standard USB Black, Red, White, and Green, plus the Brown pin 4 wire for sensing an A host. Carefully pulling back the insulation on the brown and black wires (a lighter with care might work better than cutting) and shorting them together will make the n810 go into host mode. You could also attach a switch so it would do both. (You still need a mini-B to USB female-A or something similar, but those are much more common).
Another solution:A cable that puts the N810 in host mode automatically: http://www.reichelt.de/?ARTICLE=74220 "AK 676-AA : USB 2.0 A-Stecker auf Micro-USB A-Stecker 1m" Shipping mainly to germany. I got the Micro USB B - USB A cable ( http://www.reichelt.de/?ARTICLE=74221 ), and I can confirm that pluging this cable is also enough to put the N810 into host mode & it recognized my PQI 4GB USB stick without additional powersupply. You still need a USB A female - female adaptor, which they also sell. |
