Nokia 770 Accessories

It has been a slow week for internet tablet news so we decided to create an accessory guide to let you prepare for the Nokia 770 as it arrives. We have rounded up memory cards, batteries, chargers, even WiFi finders to get you ready ahead of time.

Memory Cards:

RS-MMCJust before anyone makes a mistake, the Nokia 770 uses RS-MMC. RS-MMC stands for Reduced-size - Multimedia Card. RS-MMCs are about half the size of regular MMCs, and MMCs are about the size of Secure Digital (SD) cards. RS-MMCs usually come with an adapter so you can use them as a regular MMC card. The Nokia 770 by default, comes with a 64MB RS-MMC. There are two types of RS-MMCs — the Dual Voltage (DV) RS-MMC and the standard single voltage RS-MMC. Both are supported by the Nokia 770.

  • 1GB Sandisk RS-MMC - $73.99 at Buy.com (currently out of stock)
  • 512MB Kingston RS-MMC - $37.99 at Amazon.com
  • 256MB Kingston RS-MMC - $25.00 at ZipZoomFly

Batteries:

BatteryThe Nokia 770 uses Nokia’s BP-5L (1300mAh Li-Polymer) battery, the same battery that the Nokia 7100, 7700, and 9500 uses. While itT doesn’t advice using OEM batteries, you can find third-party manufacturers selling BP-5L compatibles. Be warned however that some vendors sell versions with a lower mAh rating, which basically means, a shorter battery life. The Nokia 770 is estimated to run continuously for 3 hours on the BP-5L.

Chargers:

ChargersThe Nokia 770 comes with the Nokia AC-4 Travel Charger by default. Mobile or car chargers  however, are sold separately. The Nokia 770 supports the Nokia DC-4 mobile charger. Note that if you previously had a Nokia phone and purchased a mobile charger for it, you might need an adaptor (Nokia CA-44) to convert it to a smaller charger interface that the Nokia 770 uses. The Nokia DC-4 is also compatible with the Nokia N90, 61xx, 62xx, and the 31xx.

  • Nokia DC-4 (original) - $14.95 at Nokia USA, $6.94 at Keenzo (currently out of stock)

WiFi Finders:

WiFi FinderWe thought of adding WiFi Finders to the list. WiFi finders are small gadgets that help you detect WiFi and Bluetooth signals. It might be good to have one handy and check for a signal first before wasting precious battery time out of your Nokia 770, searching for hotspots.

  • Kensington WiFi Finder Plus - $23.00 at Buy.com
  • SmartID WiFi Trekker - $39.90 at SmartID
  • ZyXEL ZyAIR AG-225H - $99 (shipping on September) - read article

The products above are all just recommendations and the links are not, in any way, affiliated with itT. If you find other good deals, please don’t hesitate to reply to this article and add them.

Also, once you get your Nokia 770, please don’t hesitate to upload pics of your device at the gallery.
